NYC Diary VII: Lower East side

My sister and I spent a couple of hours wandering around Lower East Side (East Village, NoLita, and Chinarown). It's one of trendiest area in New York City filled with great international and independent fashion and lifestyle stores, galleries, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Moreover, this area has been a home to some of the most interesting graffiti and murals. See the below for more graffiti murals that I took while exploring Lower East Side and as usual my outfit photos

Address: 2 Rivington Street, New York, NY 10002
Operating hour: Daily 8 PM - 11 PM, Friday & Saturday 8 AM - 12 AM.
My cousin introduce us to this talented Thai lady who is an executive pastry chef of The dessert club by ChickaLicious in New York and she recommended this ice cream store to us. Morgenstern offers wide range of unique ice cream flavours like Salted Pretzel Caramel, Strawberry Durian, Banana Curry, American Egg, Szechuan Peppercorn Chocolate, Rose Pepper Cherry etc. They also have sorbets and many toppings for those who love to add more flavour to their ice cream.
We went there in the morning. The lady staff was very friendly and welcoming. She let us try sample of different flavors before ordering. My sister and I decided to share a cup of Strawberry Crisps ice cream with chocolate chunks and salted caramel. We're so into toppings but regret adding to many of them as they kindda ruin the original flavour which is so good! Bad decision! Also, we ordered something big and special since we haven't had breakfast and really hungry. The dish called "New God Flow"  Raw Milk ice cream on Japanese white bread, and caramelized honey. I have a mix feeling about this one. I don't hate or love it. I love the milky and creamy raw milk ice cream but the bread was a little too thick and sticky. Caramel topping making the whole dish too sweet. Overall, I would say it was too rich and creamy that we couldn't finish the whole dish.

Recommendation
  • If you have no idea what to order just go for something simple like a scoop of your favourite flavour in a cup or waffle cone.
  • It's better not to add to many toppings since the ice cream itself is very rich, creamy, and delicious! Too many toppings could ruin the original flavour
  • Don't forget to bring cash!
Bluestockings is an independent book store in a warm and homey atmosphere. They run by volunteers and carry a huge selection of books, magazines, journals and Hard to Find goods. There's a small cafe serving organic and fair trade non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. Also, a relax corner where you can sit and read the book.

New Museum

There's a ship hanging outside the gray building. It looks really cool. Unfortunately, we didn't go in due to the limited time that we have. Hopefully next trip I will have time to visit there.
